Bombay & Asian Selfs Studs

Pantha
Typha Black Pantha
Bombay stud (72)

We have great difficulty getting a photograph that does Pantha justice. It is not easy photographing a black cat! He has the most classic Burmese type. Apart from his lovely balanced wedge, his profile shows an excellent strong nose break, straight nose and deep level chin. He was our first “real” Bombay and we couldn’t have done better.

He was shown in the early days, gaining seven Merit Certificates, all from different judges. When the breed progressed he gained one Intermediate Certificate, with Best of Breed, but then we had to stop showing him as he cooked his stomach on his heated bed and a leather stomach is not in the Standard of Points! Looking through his write-ups, what shows up consistently is “short fine coat, dense black, sound to the roots”. This is something that he is passing on to his offspring, apart from his lovely type and temperament.

He is now fourteen years old and last year had a very unfortunate fall and broke his hind leg so badly it had to be pinned. Six months bed rest hasn't deterred him and he is back as new and as enthusiastic as ever about his work, still producing kittens like Jet that win on the show bench, showing that you can't keep a good 'un down!

He has recently sired a lovely litter of five kittens from Ch Typha Oloroso - see photos on Kittens Page.

Loony Champion Typha Huntersmoon
Bombay stud (72)
Typha Huntersmoon (Loony) has been "cultivated" to be Pantha's successor. However, we have had to wait until now to tell everyone about him because we were not sure if he was stud material! He's an absolute darling and loves everyone to bits, but he wasn't doing 'the bizz'!! He was everyone's friend but not very macho! With the approaching Spring, however, all has now changed and we at last have a girl who is pregnant by him! Obviously, his hormones have kicked in and we have a future stud in the making.

Loony has one of those 'sheer magic' temperaments - he rolls, purrs, cuddles and thinks the world was made to love him. Which of course, it was, no-one can help but fall for his charms. Apart from his temperament, he has a lot going for him. Coat solid to the roots, deep-gold eye colour, lovely Burmese type and long, balanced tail. We are delighted to report that Loony has become a Champion in three consecutive shows at just one year and five days old. Although still a baby and needing to mature a little more, we feel he has great potential and look forward to seeing how he progresses.
