Typhast Iolaus ('Trigger' to his friends!)

Dear Rosie,
I just wanted to let you know what an absolute delight Typhast Iolaus is. He's currently sitting next to me on the sofa, purring beautifully. We are all completely smitten! He and our silly Staffie, Sid, sat together quietly on the sofa last night for the first time after a couple of brief introductions on previous evenings. Iolaus (known to us as "Trigger") was extremely patient with him, allowing him to sniff and nuzzle him to his heart's content - although he did give a hiss or a growl if he stepped over the mark. Perfectly acceptable if you ask me - I'm amazed he didn't give him a smack on a couple of occasions! He's been playing (a lot!), eating, snoozing and exploring and has settled into his new home very quickly. I'll keep you posted on Trigger's adventures in due course.
Best wishes,
Luisa Wise

Zsami the Firecat!

Incidentally I now have my very own web page
and now people from all over the world can see
me if they want to: http://www.bengalcat.me.uk/
Dear Barrie and Rosie,
As you can see from the photo, I've been in my new home just over a week and I've already bagged front seat in front of the fire. It's very comfortable here as, apart from the open fire, there is a lovely warm Aga in the kitchen, and best of all … four, yes FOUR, settings to the electric blanket! I've had great fun since I've been here, not a dull moment and I've made a race circuit around the sitting room. My fellow kitties are great fun and my introduction to dogs has been a real eye-opener as they say they aren't 'DoGs' but 'GoDs' - a mix up in translation somewhere at the beginning of time apparently. Even at my young age I somehow think they may well be suffering from delusions of grandeur.

Keeto is great to chase as he just turns round and chases me right back. Ziggi, the boss cat here, is in charge of my education but I fear he has quite a job, as 'How to Behave like a Gentleman' isn't quite my forte at this present time and of course the humans love cuddling me as much as I love cuddling them! Outside the windows of my new home I can look out onto wonderful rolling countryside and I've been told by my fellow felines that when I've been 'done', (whatever that means), I can go out and explore. Can't wait … though I'm still not sure if it sounds like a good swap.
Love from Zsami
(& Annie of course! - note from me - he's just perfect!)

News from Berry

Typhast Loganberry, retired from family duties - she's a Bengal Queen Mother! A soft, kind, loving little leopard girl with huge green eyes. A beauty with a great sense of fun. Berry loves retrieving pencils to carry and toss. She performs exquisite 'mouse-toss ballets' with tissue paper balls. She is also adept at batting them back and forth to me (Rosie taught her!). Enjoys rolling herself up in rugs. Berry established a firm routine in her new home - retiring promptly at 10.15 pm each night. She relaxes for a bit, then it's 'leggies aloft' - where they remain throughout my goodnight kisses and beyond. It is a privilege to have her. She is my love, my companion. Highly intelligent, with an uncanny knack of reading my thoughts. Because of her breeding home, she's also a precious link to to my former Burmese, all of whom had Typha ancestry.
Best Wishes, Liz Herring.

Powerhouse Rose!
Hi. Just thought you might like to see how Rose is getting on. She is very adorable but quite potty. She loves to pick up anything that’s not nailed down and run off and play with it - she has more energy than a power station! I do need to get her nails clipped as she has now decided to use me as a climbing frame but at least it’s not the furniture that’s bleeding - never mind it's all in play!!!!

Thanks for providing such a great kitten and I hope you give many more people the same pleasure from theirs as I have from mine.
Regards
Peter Wheeler

Lara loves her new home

Hi
This is a very overdue email but I am pleased to let you know that Lara has settled very well with us and our other cats since she joined us in March.

Our red Burmese (now 17 originally from Typha stock and probably one of Lara's oldest relatives) took her under his furry wing and helped her feel right at home! They share lots of cuddles as do we. She did not get the same reception from our brown Burmese X, Delilah, initially but I am pleased to say that now they happily engage in play and chase each other around the house when they are have one of those black-eyed moments. We celebrated Lara's 1st Birthday the other day with a family BBQ to mark the occasion!
Very best wishes,
Joanna Cook and Family.

Joe takes a nap
Hello,
How are you? This is the Davis family - we brought one of your kittens early this year. His name was Typhast Zeekoman. We've called him 'Jomo', 'Joe' for
short. We just thought you might like a little update. He is very well and happy, has settled in very well and is getting on well with our other cat.

He is a stunning cat and has got a lovely big personality and loves his food.

Sophie and the Davis family.
Alfons writes from Sweden

Hello there Rosie and Barrie!
Thanks so much for your lovely Christmas card!

It´s time for me, Alfons, to write again to tell you that I´m still feeling (and looking) great. This summer I´ll be 12 years young. My whole life – from the moment you took me on that plane to Sweden, mamma Rosie, I´ve had a wonderful cat-life.

I´m totally free to go out whenever I say so, day or night – by shouting loudly at the door or scratching on the door – and in summertime the doors are always open. My family never let me stay out nights though – I guess it´s because they want me for cuddling in their beds.

Now, in winter, my fur is even more soft and more shiny and people always want to touch my fur. I´m not that delighted, but I let them – the price I have to pay for being as beautiful as I am.

Now you can see that I´m very happy and so is my family, who send their best wishes. They´ll be forever grateful to you.

Many, many kisses! Love you!
From Alfons in Katrineholm, Sweden.

Layla in love

Dear Rosie and Barrie
Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know how little Layla (aka Lavinya) is getting on. After a few hissing fits when they caught a glimpse of each other through bars, Oscar and Layla are getting on amazingly - I think Layla has actually fallen in love with Oscar! They clean each other, chase after each other and snuggle up together all the time.

Oscar has now stopped howling for Milo and is back to eating and playing...mainly being naughty!! Layla adores playing and is an incredible jumper!  Layla loves to have her tummy rubbed just like Oscar. We are really happy with her and she is a beautiful girl.

Thank you so much for your understanding and your comfort when we lost our poor Milo, whom we still dearly miss.

Best wishes,
Georgie and Mark.

Peace at Last

Dear Rosie and Barrie,
You will both be pleased to hear that Little Urranuss (Taiko) has settled in wonderfully. He is such a curious and confident chap that he seemed totally un-phased by his new surroundings and was bounding around our home in no time.

I did feel some doubt and worries for the first few days as our three-year-old existing cat, Tino, is such a scaredy cat and was petrified of the kitten. Thank goodness that by the end of week one, Tino had plucked up the courage to come out of hiding and meet his new kitten playmate and now the two are getting on famously!

Tino is back to his usual self (well more than himself, now that he has a playmate to tear around the house with, his energy and enthusiasm has quadrupled).

Thank you so much for the most adorable and playful kitten, now that we have two, we can totally understand why every Bengal deserves a playmate.

Best Wishes,
Kate and Mark

The Maharajah Monty Marriott of Matfield

Hello Rosie and Barrie,

Just to let you know that Monty is absolutely fine. he is sitting on my lap as I am typing this purring his head off. He really is the most gorgeous kitten, very funny, very friendly and VERY FAST. Visitors keep trying to tuck him into their coats to take him home. His coat is darkening and becoming very glossy – you will be pleased to hear that the punk porcupine look is almost a thing of the past, apart from when he plays with the dog. I think the dog is finding surrogate parenthood a bit wearing at times. Monty pounces on him and runs at him to get him to chase him and tries to swing on his (very waggy) tail.He is firmly of the view that the dog is here for his entertainment (it is a good job the house is quite big as their playing can be a bit riotous). Flynn puts up with it and enjoys most of it but if it gets too much, he puts his chin firmly on Monty to pin him down – might as well try to trap an eel!. He is a very happy little cat whose favourite toys (at the moment) are old bus tickets. He kills them thoroughly and then races round the house with them.

Anyway, we thought you would like to know that he has us all under control and is growing fast. With very best wishes to you and all the Typha cats and thank you so much for letting us have him.

Bonita's Boys
Smuggler & Smeagol

UPDATE March 09
: We are delighted to report that Smuggler won First and Best of Breed at the National Club Show in Nov 08. He has since been shown at the Southern Counties & Croydon Shows as an adult, where he won his first & second Premier Certificates and again Best of Breed at both shows, and then achieved his Premier at The Wessex Cat Club Show on 7th March. He is certainly following in his sister Daisychain's footsteps. Well done beautiful boy!

Hello Rosie & Barrie,

Here we are at last - on the left, in lilac, Typha Faberge ('Smuggler') & on right, in blue, Typha Fontenblue ('Smeagol')! We're nearly 8 months old now, (Nov 08), and have settled in very nicely with our people, Bonita & Stephen, and 'governess', Jaspa, who has come out of retirement, at 14 years old, to look after us! Smuggler's off to his first show in November, so we're hoping he will follow in his 'Superstar' sister Ch. Typha Daisychain's pawsteps!

Smuggler loves his Dad!
Pugwash - a little shooting star

Pugwash came to us from Rosie & Barrie in December 2007, as Bonita's 50th birthday gift from friends and family.

Tragically, he died on 4 July 2008. We will never forget him - beloved little shooting star.

Hey for Pugwash!
Typha Poselden - 'Pugwash'
Pugwash in 'Cat World' magazine

Pugwash featured in an article in 'Cat World' magazine, along with our 14-year-old black cat, 'Jaspa' (now looking after our boys, see above!). It was published, sadly, the month that he died, but we look upon it as a lovely memorial to him.

Hi
I thought you would like this great close up photo of Leo ( from 2006 ) Eivor Rasehorn is the photographer. Winning best veteran three years in a row and being the oldest Bengal is Sweden is something for your web site club.

Love, Inge

Hello Rosie & Barrie,

I just wanted to let you know how our very new addition is getting on. Stella has an amazing character and is just doing everything at 100 miles an hour! My son Joe who is six thinks she is so much fun; they are the best of friends. I even caught my husband giving her a kiss the other day so she really has made an impression!
Hope your both well, take care for now

Josie

Hi Rosie & Barrie, hope you are both well.

Just a quick update on our b oy. He's still as wonderful as ever though we think we've turned him into the soppiest puss on the planet. He keeps us on our toes and at 11 years old is managing to continually learn new things, he is so intelligent sometimes it's unbelievable.

We love him to bits. We've often thought about getting a little friend for him though perhaps we'd appreciate more than he would.

We love the web site and were surprised to see pictures of Chester on the front page, we feel very proud. It was interesting to read up on his history and see photos of his brothers and sisters.

Kindest regards.
Gary, Shirley & Chester xx

The Website designer with the three loves of his life - Sabi, Honey and Columbus.

Just wanted to say hello and let everyone know how happy I am to be a member of Club Typha-Typhast AGAIN. It has been a while - far too long since we had our last Burmese cats from Rosie and Barrie.

Rarely does one see such friendly cats - only drawback is that we can't let them out without supervision as they just go up to strangers to say hello or if there is "danger", Honey (the Lilac) just lays down on his back. Yes, Honey is a male (Sabi's choice of name). But he is a real sweetie so the name is quite apt. (Honey's favourite titbit: PRAWNS!)

They are just adorable and so curious about life. Like Sabi says, our home would be so empty without them.

Hi Rosie & Barrie,

Thought you might like to see how Tiggings is enjoying his new home.

Today he ventured into the garden for the first time, then came back in for a long snooze.

He loves to be pampered at any opportunity as he's very affectionate. He's a fantastic new addition to our family, we love him to bits & enjoy every moment with him.
Thanks very much for letting him retire with us.

Yours gratefully,

Pet, Jude & James

Dear Rosie,

It was so nice speaking with you today after all these years.

Here is a picture of Csibi - (also known as) Typha Tovarish being the beautiful daughter of Typha Dark Enigma. She lived with us for 22 years 2 months. She was a very healthy cat who totally dominated the household of one large GSD and a stray tabby and us, being a very good natured fun loving animal, who we miss very much. Although there is more room in the bed at the moment!!!! Looking forward to the next Typha offspring in our home!

With kindest personal regards -
Brenda & Peter Kertesz

Dear Rosie and Barrie,

I thought you might like a recent photo showing Rufus the great hunter on guard in the garden - he has brought in countless mice and a blackbird! Much larger than him - how he did that I'll never know. You were right Fonzie (our Snowshoe neutered boy) and Rufus are now good friends - meaning Fonzie has learned to be patient even when Rufus is playing with his tail. The gardener is very taken with him as he likes to "help" especially with the leaf raking. He loves water. He has a water fountain to drink from that he likes to wash his paws in and then stick his head under the fountain to shower - then he likes to jump on the bed soaking wet.

I can't believe he is already 6 months old - after Christmas he will going on the dreaded trip to the vets - I guess he may calm down a bit then. Hope you all have a wonderful Xmas.

Best wishes
Rufus, Fonzie and Hannah

Hi Rosie

I would also like to have a little photo of Leo on your club page. Typha Omnileopard 'Leo' - the first registered Bengal in Sweden. He came to Sweden in 1995 and was an immediate hit in the cat world.

Lots of people got very interested in the breed and my phone rang all the time. I competed with him in Independent because Fife didn't recognize the breed back then. He easily became European Premier even though he sometimes would have preferred to be the only cat in the show hall. Now, when he is 10 years old he has returned to the show circuit. (In Sweden cats can compete in senior class (7 -10) and a veteran class 10 and older). In September he was number one on the short hair list so I’m hoping for the best (the show year ends in December).

I´m so grateful that you let me have him! And he has done a lot for the breed in Sweden.

Love

Inger

Hi Rosie & Barrie

I would just like to thank you for a wonderful addition to my family and also the support you have given me as well.

As you can see from the pictures Cyrus has grown very quickly and is coming on in leaps and bounds (quite literally) with his new life in London.

He’s very mischievous and energetic, and always into something, but I would not have it any other way. Cyrus has me in fits of laughter with the things he gets up to, but on the other hand he can be very loving as well, he has a wonderful temperament and is too intelligent for his own good.

I have sent you a few pictures of Master Cyrus (5 months old) hope you enjoy them.

Respectfully yours,

Nigel

Hello Rosie!

Do you remember your Typha Northerncrown that we call Alfons? (How can we forget?)

It´s been a while since I wrote to you. We are all well and Alfons is even more gorgeous now as a grown up gentle "cat". He is always talking to us, letting us know everything that has happend outside in the garden as he is coming in for food or hugs. He is often sleeping on my chest and I can kiss him as much as I want to. No one can look at me with that much love in his eyes as he can. I can feel it, see it and hear it. And I love him back. I love him more than I can describe. We all do, family, friends and neighbours.

Alfons is still coming and going out as he pleases and if we haven´t seen him for a while, we just call out for him and he´ll come runnimg in a full speed loudly telling us that he´s on his way.

He is SO funny. He is SO smart. He is a cat, a friend worth millions. And, as I told you before - he loves us with every piece of his little heart.

I hope everything is well with you, your husband and all your cats.

Lots of hugs from Alfons with family in Katrineholm, Sweden

Anne-Greth

Hi Rosie,

Just thought I’d keep you up to date with a few more pictures of our girls. They’re growing so fast, and getting darker by the day. They really do each
have their own little personalities, Megansgirl loves to climb up us and her favourite perch is either Rich or my shoulder – while Malteezah will only let you carry her if she’s on her back like a baby. Malteezah has also really taken to the catnip mouse, and has just shown us how she can play fetch with it. Really adorable.

We’ve been singing your praises to our friends who come and marvel over the kittens so we might have to come visit with them when they decide it’s time for them to get kittens too!

Much love,

Carla

Dear Rosie and Barrie

Here are Marmite and Io after 2 weeks here ... They would like to join your club and are sending in their photo. They spent a long time walking over the keyboard to say their favourite! They haven't had a single 'accident' in 2 weeks and are absolutely adorable. The vet saw them this week to add them to her books and said they are in perfect health.

Lots of love and well done on a great website

Helen, Paul, Io and Marmite xxxx

Rosie & Barrie,

We thought you might like to see how the kittens are progressing – these pictures are from late June/early July (approx 17 weeks old). I think you’ll agree they have grown a fair bit since you last saw them.

You suggested we might be in for some sleepless nights, quite surprisingly they haven’t kept us awake once yet – either we’re tiring them out in the evenings or vice versa (suspect the latter).

They’ve settled in well and have gradually made most of the house their own – bookcases, shelves and window sills have been cleared as they’ve explored every nook and crannie – Glynis says it looks as though we’ve been burgled!! but glancing down at the floor paints a different picture and resembles an explosion in a toy shop.

We’ll keep you posted on their progress.

Dave & Glynis.

PS. I like the website.

Dear Rosie,

Although our cats are no longer living with us, they are still very much alive in our memories.

They were absolutely beautiful and they had such lovely temperament. Very intelligent and sociable; they could even open doors. They ruled our household. But what we appreciated the most was that we could leave them with you when we went on holiday knowing that they would be well looked after.

Mona

Dear Rosie and Barrie,

Thank you so much for letting us have Laila. She had a lovely life with us. We do so enjoy visiting you and seeing Crackadazzle her mother running around. It is like having our much loved Laila back.

Hi Rosie,

I thought you may like to see the attached. Kushka has had a kidney infection, but hopefully – she’s on the mend. My vet had to carry out several scans, take blood/urine etc and at one time she spent two days in the vet’s on a drip, but he said she’s handled it beautifully and she’s been “an angel”. Since then, she’s made it very clear she’s certainly not ready to join the rest of the angels yet.

The love and devotion I have had from her over the past 18 years never ceases to gladden my heart. I may bore you with more photos – if your computer can take it – I am very so very proud of her and I can’t help myself!

I hope everything with you and Barrie is going well – I think your website is terrific.

Best regards……………MARK

Dear Mr & Mrs Alger-Street

I thought you might like to know how Rufus is getting on now he is just over a year old.

You warned me that he was very naughty!! He wasn't naughty exactly, more clumsy and acted first and thought afterwards!! I am afraid he was renamed Colin (the clot) as Rufus was far too regal for a cat with his nature.

He is an absolute delight, very chatty, so affectionate and now picks his way over ledges and shelves etc without sending the entire lot on the floor, only a few. I have had to throw away so many treasure that he has broken one way or another!! Who said cats tread carefully?

Kind Regards

Sue Anderton

Hi Rosie and Barrie,

As you can see Typhast Oneblue (15mth old Burmese Blue) and Typhast Grand Entrance (16 week old Bengal named Smarty Pants) are getting along fine.

Oneblue cannot stop cleaning him though, Smarty Pants never stops eating so they make a right pair.

They both have such a wonderful temperament and we could not wish for a better partnership.

Thanks for helping us find happiness just watching them grow up.

Stay Happy
Shaun & Clelia

Dear Rosie & Barie

Just a note to let you know the Bombay kitten is
fine (we still haven't settled on a name!). It took him a day to settle, and the Burmese was a bit over-excited at first - it was the first cat he has had contact with since leaving his litter, and we kept a close watch on them at first. By Monday things had calmed down and they are now getting on really well, eating and playing together, and grooming each other, and they sleep curled up together- they both seem really happy so it looks like everything has
worked out well.

thanks for everything,
best wishes

Tony & Nicole
