THE BURMESE CAT CLUB SHOW - 26th JUNE 2010
Very many congratulations to Linda, ably helped by Alan, for a lovely weekend. What a bonus having a delicious BBQ at their home the night before. (One hundred and ten per cent for hospitality). I would also like to thank my friend Gill Allen for coming to steward for me. We had some really lovely cats to judge and they all behaved beautifully, as did Gill who looked after me and the cats with her usual caring expertise.

AC GRAND PREMIER (IMPERIAL) MALE (6 Present)

1st & IMP GR PR. BEIRNE'S IMP GR PR KUPRO RED PRINCEHAL (27d) 05.03.00

At over ten years old this lad was the oldest in the class, but you wouldn't have known it.
Elegant muscular boy much heavier than he looked and very spritely for his age. He felt
As though he worked out in the gym every morning - his muscle tone was so good. Elegant limbs and neat oval paws. Lovely tail for length, shape and balance. Even clear tangerine coat of excellent texture, very well presented. Correct balanced wedge with good width to slightly rounded top of head. Very good medium sized ears, well set, wide at the base with rounded tips and slight forward tilt. Broad brow above widely spaced large expressive opalescent eyes of correct shape and set. Lovely blunt end to balanced muzzle. Profile showed very good nose break, straight nose and medium depth to level chin. Lovely sweet affectionate boy and a worthy winner in a very strong class.

Res Imp Gr Pr. TIMBERLAKE'S UK & IMP GR PR SYKRIS CHEZACER (27) 27.07.01

What a trouper! A very laid back professional gentleman who just liked to be cuddled and purred a lot .Although a very attractive exhibit, I felt he was carrying rather too much weight when I handled him and wasn't doing himself justice. Very heavy body, strong limbs and oval paws. Rounded chest. Lovely shape to balanced tail. Dark brown coat in very good condition, soft, silky and beautifully presented. Very good short wide balanced wedge. Slightly flattened top of head. Very good width between ears with rounded tips, slightly tilted forward in profile. Broad brow. Widely spaced clear pale yellow eyes of correct shape and set. Short blunt end to muzzle. Profile showed very good nose break, straight nose and medium depth to level chin.

LILAC TORTIE ADULT OPEN (2 Present)

1CC & BOB. BOSWORTH'S SHIVAYA LUVINAMIST (14.12.08)

Elegant but muscular rather grumpy girl (but quite harmless!) Long slender limbs and neat oval spoon-shaped feet. Good tail for shape and length. Soft well presented clear coat with pink over-tones. Slightly long along back but lies well. Good width to slightly flattened top of head. Medium to large well set ears. Broad brow which rounds out above well spaced expressive yellow eyes of very good shape and set. Blunt end to muzzle which is a fraction square and I would prefer it shorter for balance, but still acceptable within the standard. Profile shows good nose break, straight nose and shallow but level chin. After grumbling at me all the time I was judging, she did have the grace to give me a wash before I put her back - so all is forgiven!

2nd. HUTCHISON'S IRREP BONGALULU (21.05.06)

If I had had my Asian hat on I would have questioned whether this girl could be a caramel tortie. However, as this colour is not recognised in the Burmese, I can only suggest that she is a very unusual dark colour for a lilac tortie Burmese, coat tending more to blue than lilac, and within their colour recognition looked more like a blue tortie than a lilac in the hall light. Body muscular and elegant, limbs slender with neat oval paws. Tail correct shape but would prefer slightly longer. She had a lovely texture to a very soft and silky coat, Wedge a little unbalanced at the moment, with muzzle being slightly fine at the jaw hinge. Top of head slightly flattened with good width between ears of good shape and set. Widely spaced expressive greenish toned eyes of good set. Profile shows good nose break and shallow but level chin. A real wriggler.

BLUE KITTEN OPEN MALE (UNDER 6 MONTHS) 1 Present

A real teenager, all arms and legs and nothing co-ordinates! A delightful young man, but needs to get his act together. Very well grown for 7 months and starting to feel his oats.
More interested in the girl next door than having us judge him! Rangy muscular body with long limbs and tail. Coat old fashioned blue with silvering on extremities, slightly dry along the back. Medium wedge, just a little long for my taste. Ear to grow into. Golden yellow widely spaced expressive eyes. Blunt end to muzzle but rather fine. Acceptable nose break and chin set back a fraction at present.

RED BURMESE ADULT MALE OPEN (1 Present)

1CC & BOB. AKEHURST'S CHIARO ZINZERO 27d (12.06.09)
Looked a slender lad in the pen, but deceptively heavy when picked up. Muscular fit body with straight back, elegant limbs and neat oval paws. Very good tail for length and shape with lovely paint brush end. Lovely texture to close-lying clear warm red coat very well presented. Head looking just a little immature at present and would prefer more width between the ears to balance, however ears of good shape and set. Brow a fraction flat but rounds out above deep yellow widely spaced expressive eyes of good shape and set. Muzzle just a little fine for balance. Profile shows good nose break and almost straight nose, just rolls off a little at the leather and level chin. Very good bite. Although there were one or two things that I was hesitant about I gave him the CC as I felt they were probably due to immaturity. Look forward to seeing how he develops when he is a little older. THE CAMBRIDGE CAT CLUB SHOW - 28th MARCH 2010
My thanks to Sally and her team for inviting me once again to judge at this very friendly show.
It was a shame the entries were rather low, but as they say, quality makes up for quantity and I had some lovely cats to judge. Once again many thanks to Stephanie Beirne for coming especially to steward for me. Her enthusiasm and interest in the various breeds is very refreshing. They all get handled with special love and care. A definite must in a good steward – which she definitely is.

IMPERIAL CLASS – AC BURMESE GR PR NEUTER MALE (2 Present)

IMP GR PR. MOORE’S GR PR MOONGAZER OBERON (27b) 15.04.04.
Large muscular lad with rounded chest, elegant but substantial limbs and oval paws. Tail just balances body. Slightly long but very well prepared soft close lying even dark warm chocolate coat. Very faint bars on inside of front legs. Slightly darker mask and tail which blend in beautifully. Very good width to top of slightly rounded head. Well spaced medium ears, broad at base and slightly tilted forward. Broad rounded brow. Well spaced expressive yellow eyes of correct shape and set. For me, muzzle could be a fraction shorter but very acceptable with nice blunt end. Profile shows very good nose break, straight nose and slightly shallow but level chin. Profile shows very good nose break. Almost straight nose, just rolls off slightly at the tip, and medium depth to level chin. Bite very untidy. Very affectionate.

IMP GR PR. DANCKWERTS’ GR PR KYMIAN DRUSILLA (27) 02.12.09
Muscular strong lady with rounded chest, straight back and elegant limbs culminating in dainty oval paws. Tail balances. Fantastic sheen to close lying soft even brown coat. Top of head just a fraction flat but has good width with very good ears, well set, broad at the base with rounded tips. Broad brow, again slightly flat but rounds out above widely spaced large expressive pale yellow eyes of very good shape and set. Profile shows very good nose break, straight nose and deep level chin. Wedge is just a little fine but acceptable for overall balance. This classy young girl definitely had a verbal attitude to start with, but when challenged turned out to be quite harmless and a delightful character.

BENGAL SNOW SPOTTED ADULT OPEN (1 Present)

1 CC & BOB. BUCKLEY’S SPOTTICATZ KASPAROV (76b 30) 28.04.09
Very good size and weight for age. Strong muscular body, robust legs and large paws. Good tail, thick and held low. Very soft luxurious dense coat, well glittered with pale ivory background and well spaced two toned brown spots. Legs well barred with spots on paws. Pale unbroken necklace. Well ringed tail with dark tip. Head slightly broader than I would prefer but still falls within the standard and he has very well developed jowls for his age which tended to shorten the appearance of his head. Slight rounding to top with well spaced ears, medium to large with rounded tips. Good width between large very expressive deep Dresden-blue eyes of very good shape and set. Nose broad and even. Head slightly fine at jaw hinge but good whisker pads developing. Profile shows a little more of a nose break than I would prefer but still acceptable, and deep level chin. Lovely boy with a superb temperament. I gather this made him up to Champion today. Congratulations to his owner/breeder.

I had a lovely day - some beautiful cats and great company. Thank you all.

IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE BURMESE (1 Present)

IMP GR CH. JARVIS' GR CH KYMIAN SABRINA (27e) 23.05.02
Although the only one present, a very worthy winner. Elegant little girl, much heavier than she looks with strong muscular body, straight back, rounded chest and slender limbs. Excellent type to correct Burmese head showing short broad balanced wedge, good width to slightly rounded top with medium well-set ears. Ears slightly taller than wide with broad base. Very good eyes for shape and set, strong bluish-green in colour. Muzzle slightly fine and long for balance, although good whisker pinch. TONKINESE KITTEN FEMALE OPEN (2 Present)

1 & BOB. HITCHINGS' CWICHYCATZ BRTAMGING (74c) F 13.06.09
Lovely stylish young lady with firm medium-length well-balanced body. Slender well-balanced limbs and neat oval paws. Tail balances body well with good tapering to end. Darker points on head, ears, mask and feet shading very well to main body tone. Colour very subtle being a lilac kitten but still obvious with gentle paling tone on the body. Coat short and close lying, lovely pale clear creamy lilac. Gentle rounding to broad top of head, Medium wedge with balanced muzzle. Slight whisker pads. Widely-spaced expressive greenish blue eyes of correct shape and set. Profile shows slight nose break and medium depth to level chin. A chatty little girl who shows a lot of promise.

Width at top of head slightly narrower than I would prefer. Ears taller than wide and pricked forward. Widely-spaced expressive greenish blue eyes of very good shape and set. Good whisker pinch, but muzzle just a little long and fine for balance at present. Profile shows slight dip in straight nose, which runs on a fraction making chin recede a little. Sweet kitten, but a typical tortie - a real wriggler!

BROWN MARBLED BENGAL KITTEN OPEN (1 Present)

1 & BOB. BAKER'S SILVERGLAM STORMOFPATERAJEDI (F) 02.08.09.
Well-grown girl with muscular robust body, rounded chest, sturdy limbs and rounded paws. Tail balances, colour quite solid at present with just a few rings on underside of tail with black tip. Coat texture like silk, luxurious and soft to the touch and well glittered. I would have preferred more pattern to the coat which was still developing and not showing as much marbling as one would expect from a six- month-old kitten. Hopefully this will come with maturity. Lovely rich rufus colour on paws. Head slightly longer than wide with vertical streaks over the head and pencilling on cheeks. Ears medium to large. Widely-spaced greenish yellow eyes of correct shape and set with pale spectacles. Good whisker pads developing. Profile shows slight dip to nose and level chin. Easy to handle.

My next class was the Spotted Bengal kittens. I put in my write up - "An amazing class of kittens." It was so rewarding to see such a class of high-quality kittens showing the attributes emerging that we are striving for. They were probably the best class of Bengal kittens I have judged to date. Congratulations and 'thank you', exhibitors.
